FEMA’s website offers tips for how to prepare your pets for emergencies. FEMA makes the point that, just as you need to have an emergency kit for humans, so you need one for your pet. There are two important tips here: (1) Ensure you know of a shelter in your area which will take pets during an emergency; and (2) Ensure your pet’s emergency kit has food, water and any medicines your pet needs.

LookOut news, which reports on events in Santa Monica, details an Emergency Preparedness Fair held in Santa Monica this past Saturday. The Fair is designed to give loving pet owners information about how to protect their pets in the event of an emergency. The Fair was “co-hosted by the City’s Office of Emergency Management Division, the American Red Cross and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.”
